Preparing to gain a tiny new family member

can be overwhelming, often in the BEST way

When they arrive, you don’t want to miss a single moment. You know life gets busy, and you know they grow fast.

Let’s capture those little fingers, big yawns, and first smiles, before time flies by. Bottle up your very first moments together.

Everything about being a new parent is hard (and beautiful)

Everything about NEWBORN
PHOTOGRAPHY should be EASY

Leave your slippers on. Forget about the laundry. Sink into your favorite chair with your little one. Soak up that addicting new baby smell and how their long lashes flutter as they fall asleep. You only get to do this stage once, but your photos can help you relive it.

We’ll let your baby lead the session (no props, unless you want to incorporate a special item like a baby blanket or stuffed animal). If your baby has siblings, we will absolutely include them — read a book together, share cuddles on the couch, or play as a family.

And we can ALWAYS take breaks for feeding, diaper changes, & snack time.

You won’t be told to stand in one place and look at the camera (that’s the stuff nightmares and temper tantrums are made of).

Instead, I’ll find pockets of light in your home and give you gentle prompts to help you feel comfortable. When our time together is done, you’ll be surprised by how quick and easy your session felt.

And when you see your photos 2-3 weeks later and revisit those first sweet moments together, you’ll notice how much has already changed, and you’ll be so glad to have these memories.

The first 48 hours with your newborn
are unlike anything else

It’s little things like the tiny hospital bracelet around their tiny ankle, the hospital bassinet where they spent their first few sleeps right by your side, and the bed where you cuddled and recovered as a newly expanded family. Add a Birth Space (also called Fresh 48) session to any newborn or maternity session, and we’ll make sure all of those details are documented.

“I’m so thankful we have these beautiful images”

“I didn’t anticipate how special (and fleeting) these first moments together as a family of five would feel and I’m so glad we had Rebecca to capture it. Our clothes are mismatched, the kids are wearing each other's socks, I’m in a postnatal girdle, too swollen for my wedding ring — and I LOVE how we look. I love how it felt being together and I’m so thankful we have these beautiful images.”

How It Works

  • You might not know where you want to do your photos yet or what you plan to wear, but I will help you figure that out.

Once you fill out my contact form, I want to know what you hope to have photographed and will reach out within 24 hours.

We’ll chat via phone or zoom to get to know each other, discuss maternity, in home newborn, and birth space fresh 48 photo session differences, pricing, etc.

If you decide to book, $350 reserves your date and covers your session time.

  • Prior to your photo session, you will receive a session prep guide, and we’ll plan the final details for your session.

The day of your session will be relaxed & fun.

The best time for at home newborn photos is when baby is 5-15 days old…and of course fresh-48 sessions happen before you leave the birth space…but there’s never a wrong time to document your memories.

After the photo session you’ll feel surprised at how easy it was, and can await your gallery.

  • About 2 weeks after your photo session, I’ll email you with a link to your photo gallery slideshow.

Seeing your photos is the best part.

You don’t need to choose your collection until after you view the images, so you know exactly what you’re getting.

When you look at your photos and see your kids’ personalities shining bright, and your newborn’s cute squishy face which has already changed, you can then choose your collection, which starts at $975.

$1450 gets you all of your digital files and a $700 store credit towards print products.

Frequently Asked QUESTIONS

  • I generally recommend that parents schedule newborn photos when the baby is between one and two weeks old. However, because of my un-posed, lifestyle approach to photography, I can photograph a “newborn” session well beyond that two-week mark.

  • I absolutely LOVE working with children and enjoy our time together during your photo session. If you ever start to feel stressed about their behavior before or during the session I encourage you to relax, and just let me do my thing.

I very rarely ask any family member to look directly into my camera, and often just let kids be kids, and lead the session. So, please just relax and have fun! You'll thank me later, I'm sure!

Here’s some tips on preparing toddlers for at home newborn sessions.

  • When taking maternity + newborn photographs I feel that it's really important for everyone to feel comfortable.

You have everything that you need already in your wardrobe!

Dress comfortably and in your usual style. I will send out an email with styling tips after you are booked, but in the meantime, here’s some tips on what to wear for your newborn session and what to prepare for your newborn to wear for the photo session.

  • That’s one of the most common questions that my clients ask me. The answer is NOTHING! Isn’t that amazing?

I will come to your house and I will scope out the rooms with the best light. Typically I take photos in the nursery and master bedroom, but will use the best window light available for portraits regardless of room location.

I may move a few things around to ensure I get the best sessio possible, but that is nothing that my clients need to worry about.

Your home is perfect just as it is.

Here’s some general information about how to prepare for your newborn session.

  • If any member of your family is sick leading up to the session date, please just reach out and we'll make the best plan to ensure that everyone is healthy and at their best for your family photos.

  • I don't set a time limit to my lifestyle newborn sessions; however, they generally take between 1.5 to 2.5 hours. Newborn babies need breaks for eating, diaper changes, etc., and I factor that into my schedule.

If I am taking photos of a newborn, it will be the only newborn session on my calendar for the entire day. That way, no one will feel rushed and we will take all the time we need to ensure I get enough photographs to deliver a beautiful and diverse gallery.

  • If we are shooting an in-home lifestyle session for your family, incorporating your pets is always a bonus, and purely dependent on their cooperation. Some pets are into it, and others get shy, so we would take our time to see if we can include them as much as you wish in your photos.

  • I do not bring props to any of my sessions; however, I always take shots of the new baby alone in his/her natural atmosphere. So while you will not receive any images of your baby in a bucket, you will receive plenty of frame-worthy baby led images of your newborn looking like the sweet newborn he/she is. Some infants are comfortable lying alone for photos in their crib or on the parents bed. Some babies need to be held for the whole session, and that’s ok too!

If you have a special blanket or rug those are easy to incorporate into photos too and make a great meaningful backdrop.

  • You are under no obligation to use your Print Credit, but I am not able to give you a discount on your selected Collection if you don't want to use it. Your Print Credit is baked into the price of your Collection and has no cash value. If you're not in the mood for printed products, you can always purchase your slideshow, more digital images, or prints as gifts for family members.
