Visiting Portland? Why you should plan an adventure photography session while you are here.

Do you find that you are inspired to document your family and to take more photos when traveling? I know that this happens in my own life…so I imagine that it is quite common.

And then, do you find that the only photos that you, the primary historian are in, are selfies…or taken by a child from a less than flattering angle? Well…I have a solution to this!

If you are visiting Portland Oregon on vacation this summer, consider planning an Adventure Family Photo Session!!

You will have fun exploring…and documenting it!

We can chat via zoom prior to your visit to discuss what areas of town you plan to explore (and maybe even discuss some new areas), to determine the best location for your photo session! We can spend time exploring an urban neighborhood, and get coffee or ice cream.

Visit A Downtown Museum, and have fun with photos too

Both the Portland Art Museum and the Oregon Historical Society are located in SW Portland close to the Pearl district in cute and photogenic areas of the city. We could meet up before or after a museum visit for your urban photo shoot.

Another option is to check out the views of Portland from across the river by OMSI. You could check out the science museum, and then we could meet close by there and take photos with the Portland skyline and the Willamette river as the backdrop. There is a small jetty where we can walk down on the water as well.

Do you think of Bridges when you think about Portland?

One of Portland’s nicknames is ‘Bridge City’ or ‘Bridgetown’ because there are 12 bridges crossing the Willamette river - Starting to the North at St. John’s Bridge which is a suspension bridge, and also the tallest bridge in Portland. Cathedral Park at the St. John’s bridge is a favorite photo location for many of my family clients as it combines urban and natural backdrops with the historic bridge.

There are also many different bridges spanning the Willamette river, all with different building history, and colors, which would be perfect to walk across and explore for your Portland adventure photo session.

Portland Is Also Called The Rose City

In addition to the Rose Parade and Junior Rose Parade, Portland is famous for it’s Roses particularly those at the Rose Test Garden. This is a beautiful place to explore, and can also be lovely for a photo session (permit $ required). This area of forest park is also close to a huge playground where the kids can have a blast just being kids!

The Green Tree Filled Pacific Northwest is Beautiful

Many people think about the large forests and tree covered mountains of the Pacific Northwest, and how it is so different than their home. Forest Park and Hoyt Arboretum make for a lovely and forest filled area to explore and document your time in Portland. You get a true PNW forest experience.

The main reason I want you to consider hiring a photographer when you visit Portland is so that you have a beautiful documentation of your fun filled vacation. YOU, the family historian will be in the photos, you will have them completely edited, and delivered to you in an online gallery where you can easily download your selections, AND, purchase beautiful artwork, or a book/album to display and enjoy in your home for years to come, bringing you back to your fun PNW vacation in Portland!

I hope to see you this summer, and I’d love to chat about planning your family photo session!
