Tulip Field Color Inspiration For Childrens Photography
The tulip fields at the Woodenshoe Tulip farm and festival each spring are so beautiful, and very colorful. When taking my own family to the tulip fields to enjoy the spring weather and flowers, I love to plan ahead and think about what colors we’d like to capture in our photos.
When looking for inspiration for what to wear for the tulip photo sessions, I use color theory and the color wheel to select the most impactful outfits for our yearly tulip portraits.
Four Ideas For Colors To Wear For Tulip Portraits
Monochrome color theme
A monochrome color theme is when you select clothing all within one primary shade, such as multiple reds or yellow hues, and then we photograph you also with that color flower. In this image my daughter is wearing a yellow dress which definitely adds additional interest when she’s standing amongst the yellow tulips.
Contrasting color choice
Contrasting colors are two colors across from each other on the color wheel. Primarily, these combinations include purple and yellow, blue and orange, and red and green.
You can see how impactful the combination is here with these red tulips and their green foliage.
Primary Color Selection
Another really impactful color combination is the use of the three primary colors, red, yellow, and blue. This is impactful when it occurs here within the tulips:
And also when utilized in outfit selection plus the tulip colors.
One way to do this is both with the tulips and also by mixing multiple color’s within your families outfit selections.
More soft/muted tones
If you are drawn to softer or more muted colors, and the spring color theme, dressing in softer tones like a light pink or lavender, and then taking the photos amongst cream or pale pink tulips can be quite lovely.
Spring Tulip Mini-Sessions are a favorite photo session with my clients, and I first release the dates and times to my email list. Are you on the list?
