What To Wear For Your Maternity Lifestyle Photo Session, Tips From The Look Editor

Are you considering a Maternity or Pregnancy photo session, but you aren’t sure what to wear? Camila Estevam, owner of local business ‘The Look Editor’ has come up with some great tips for you all on how to dress for your maternity photo session.

MATERNITY PHOTO SESSION

Choosing clothes can be challenging to anyone, but this challenge can become overwhelming when one is pregnant. Women's bodies change a lot, the proportions get different from what we are used to, and we often see ourselves lost in our own skin.

The maternity photoshoot is a wonderful way to make this moment eternal and filled with magic, which is why I gathered a few tips for you to follow and choose what to wear for your maternity session.

THE BUMP

Unconsciously many of us try to hide our shape, and one of the greatest secrets of dressing a pregnant body is making the belly a central point of the outfit. Don't be afraid to show that you're pregnant! Particularly for maternity photos.

ADD VERTICAL LINES

The third piece of advice can be your secret weapon. Adding a long vest, blazer, kimono, or overshirt creates two vertical lines on your body making you look longer.

Besides, this additional layer can be stylish and nice to play around with during the photo shoot. (Bonus points if you are pregnant during the colder seasons here in Portland and need to layer to keep warm!)

ONE x ONE

Think of this as a one-piece such as a dress or jumpsuit, which may be more flattering than a two-piece that can have the illusion of cutting you in half...depending on the items selected.

If you want to go with separates, you can go monochromatic or define your waist right under your breasts and not on the belly itself.

THE FAMILY

The key to making great wardrobe choices for your family portrait (while you are pregnant) is to keep a consistent color palette. Mix and match with 2 or 3 colors within the same vibrancy for easy success.

Either way, if you feel you need some help, that's what I am here for. The stylist and personal shopper service from ‘The Look Editor’ can be a great help for this hands full moment.
