Portland Oregon Small Business Feature

Although working with families and children are my primary loves in photography, I do photograph many small business owners throughout the year for headshot and branding photographs primarily for use on their websites and social platforms. Most I’ve met either through business networking groups, or from photographing their family over the years. In the first quarter of the year I’d like to highlight some of the local small businesses that I’ve worked with to spread the word about their offerings and amazing local businesses.

Nicole Hetz of Volat Law

Volat Law was founded by Nicole Hetz to provide all entrepreneurs with the legal services they deserve. Volat Law carries with it the promise and spirit to give wings (and some wind beneath them) to small business owners and their dreams. Nicole comes from a diverse background in business law, with experience practicing in both Argentina and the United States.

She spends her time providing general business law advice to small and medium sized businesses, with a special emphasis on new entrepreneurs. She regularly advises clients on ownership matters, control and management issues surrounding partnerships or joint ventures. She specializes in contract law which comes in handy when her clients are about to sign a commercial lease, create a contract for their service or simply review a contract. She also supports her clients in obtaining trademark registrations on a federal level which allows her to have clients from all over the US.

Having Rebecca Hunnicutt take the pictures for my website and brand made a huge difference! She gave me an image I did not have. She was able to guide me through this process and achieve a fantastic result! I couldn't have done this without her expertise. Please visit www.volatlaw.com to see Rebecca’s work and to learn more about our legal services! You can follow us on instagram @volatlaw

Shannon Chawla of Authentic Healing Wellness

Hi! my name is Shannon Chawla at Authentic Healing Wellness. I have been an acupuncturist for over 20 years now and continue to love what I do more and more. I help people feel better in their bodies by managing pain, headaches, reducing the stress response and much more. I work with children and teens as well which is important for me. I think if we learn self care at a young age it sets us up for a healthier more balanced life. For those young and old who are concerned about needles I have my "needle free" acupuncture treatments that are just as successful. You can find me online at www.authentichealingpdx.com

Working with Rebecca was amazing. I really don't like having my photos taken much, but she helped me feel comfortable, helped to figure out what would look best with the clothes I had, and then we just had a fun afternoon. She brings ease, lightness, and brilliance to her work. I was so happy with all the photos she took because I had 4-5 different looks that helped give depth and personality to my website and social media posts. I also had her take photos of my children that turned out so beautiful! I highly recommend Rebecca for business and or family photos!

Laurie Lewis of Hip Chicks Do Wine

Hip Chicks do Wine is Portland's Oldest Urban Winery. We are conveniently located in SE Portland near SE 26th & Holgate and tucked back in by the Brooklyn Trainyards. We source grapes from vineyards located throughout Oregon and Washington bringing all of the fruit to our winery to crush, ferment, age and bottle. Our tasting room is open Friday - Sunday for wine tasting but private reservations may be made any day during the week. Our space is also available to reserve for private parties, events, dinners and weddings.

Hi! This is Laurie the "Winegoddess" of Hip Chicks do Wine. My wife Renee and I started our winery back in 1999 and are thrilled to be celebrating our 25th year in business (as of 2024). We started out by taking classes at Chemeketa Community College and getting part time jobs at other wineries in the Willamette Valley. Our first year of business we produced 500 cases of wine and today we produce around 2000 cases of wine. Our goal is to make fruit forward and food friendly wines all in a fun approachable package. We also produce a line of wines under our Reserve brand called Tiernan Connor Cellars which is named after our son.

While we are both hands-on with the winemaking process Laurie really is in charge of bookkeeping, social media, marketing and day to day operations. Renee's focus is on the cellar, keeping our barrels topped up and clean, bottling schedule and they both agree she is the superior forklift driver. Our son Tiernan is the person you most often will find behind our tasting room bar and he does his fair share of cellar work as well.

We really enjoyed hosting the Headshot/Branding Photo Shoot and loved getting to have our own photos taken. Not only were they handy to use on a Zoom Profile, Linked In etc but we were even able to send them when asked for photos for local and national publications! It's so important to update your headshots regularly and connect with your customers. The photos Rebecca took are literally some of my favorites. She is so easy to work with and sets you right at ease. You can find Hip Chicks Do Wine online and in person on their website, Facebook, and Instagram or in person at their winery for wine tasting and yummy treats 4510 SE 23rd Avenue, Portland OR 97202.
