Strawberry Picking Season & Family Storytelling Adventure Sessions

It’s almost strawberry picking season here in the PNW!! And, picking strawberries can be a perfect activity for a family storytelling photo session.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

A trip to the strawberry patch is a great idea for a unique family photo session!!

The color combination of the red strawberries and the green leafs is a perfect setup to utilize color in your families outfits to tie into the scene. Kids and parents in colorful rain boots are also perfect at the strawberry patch, even without rain! The lines in the field also create unique compositional elements to enhance photos. You will often find me shooting from overhead, down low, and even with my camera almost on the ground to create unique images, almost from the strawberries point of view!

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

The activity of picking strawberries gives kids and adults something fun to do!

Sometimes people feel awkward, or like they’re unsure what to do at their photo session. Working together or independently, kids and adults can enjoy the job of collecting the fruit while I can easily document this natural activity. The conversations and movements are super natural when there is a fun job to do.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Travel & Strawberry Picking

If you have a trip planned to the Portland area this summer, a photo session while picking local berries is a great way to capture those memories.

When we lived overseas my girls and I loved picking strawberries which were ripe in December. Here are some of my favorite images from those trips to the strawberry fields.

Sauvies Island Strawberry Farms

Here in Portland, we love to visit the farms on Sauvie’s island in early summer. Last year we were so surprised to find the wide variety of strawberries available at Columbia Farms. One of our favorites were the Hood strawberries. Do you have a favorite local PNW strawberry?

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Storytelling photography session

A trip to the strawberry fields makes for a perfect storytelling session to be used to make an album and print lovely wall art.
