What are MODERN portraits?

Get ready for a playful and relaxed portrait experience that lets your child's true personality shine! Forget the stiff "cheese" smiles—I'm all about capturing those genuine expressions and big emotions that make your child unique. With a simple grey background, the focus stays right where it should be: on your little one’s amazing personality.

Our photo sessions are quick and totally stress-free, taking just a few minutes. I’ll keep things light with jokes and silly antics to bring out those natural smiles. And, if your child has a more serious side, that’s beautiful too—I’ll capture them just as they are, thoughtful and true to themselves.

How it works…

  • Choose a time slot.

    If you have one child, select one time slot. If you have more than one child, select the number of time slots you need! And, if you want a sibling session, just add on a time slot. For example, if you have two children AND want sibling group photos, book 3 time slots.


    (*Any family with more than 4 children, don’t worry, I can get them all completed within the 4 time slot selection!)

  • Complete the intake form about your child/children, and remit the $39 deposit for each time slot (this will act as a credit towards prints and/or digital files! See the price list below for more details). **If you don’t pay the deposit your session date and time will not be reserved.

    You will receive a confirmation email when your booking is confirmed.

    Then, select your outfit/s (read tips below in FAQ), and attend the Modern Portrait Event at Thinker Toys!

  • After the event, You’ll receive a link to your child’s gallery via email within two weeks of the event. 

    My aim is to showcase a variety of images of your child, displaying different aspects of their personality.

    You then choose your favorite pose(s) from a secure online gallery of modern, fully edited color + black and white images, available to purchase as modern prints, wall art, and digital downloads for self ordering and archiving.

  • These photos are taken on a timeless yet modern grey background, and are NOT full length.

  • This session is great for all students ages 6 months to seniors in high school.

  • Here is a great resource about what to wear for picture day: Modern Portrait Wardrobe Guide. Siblings should coordinate but do not need to perfectly match.

    Suggested not to wear: logos, large graphics, or text. Stay away from grey colored clothing as it will blend into the backdrop. Steer clear of solid fluorescent colored shirts as they will create strange color casts on skin.

  • Not your average sibling photo shoot!

    Do you often try to get wall worthy photos of your kids? They’re such treasures, and that makes this the perfect photo session for siblings! Plus, you’re already here and ready for photos!

    Within a 5-10 minute session I’ll interact with your children, asking them fun facts about each other, and encourage their connection to shine, capturing the love, fun relationship, and unique dynamics between your kids. You’ll be able to see their special relationship and enjoy the photos for years to come. The sibling photos also coordinate well with their individual modern school portraits to make a modern and timeless wall gallery for your home and Grandparents too!   • The experience and quality of the photos with Rebecca Hunnicutt Photography is difficult to compare to many of the big box photo companies.

    You will receive a gallery of multiple different facial expressions, in both horizontal (landscape) and vertical (portrait) orientation, edited and available to purchase in both color and black + white versions.

    You are supporting a local business while purchasing photos you will be proud to display on your walls and gift to family and friends. By working with Rebecca annually you will have a cohesive set of images to display and enjoy each year.

  • I believe that the essence of a personality is rarely captured in a “cheese” smile. With a quick, fun and relaxed approach to portraits, I am able to capture more natural expressions and emotions of your child. I provide enough time for your child to become comfortable with me and the photography environment, and quickly put children at ease while never forcing them to pose or smile in a way that feels uncomfortable.   • A per time slot deposit of $39 will be collected upon booking and can be utilized as a credit towards print and/or digital products. Individual prints start at $15, packages start at $39. Individual digital files and whole albums are available for purchase starting at $45. The best value that includes multiple prints and all of your digital files is $139.

    Shipping to your home is approx. $7

  • I have lots of great resources on my blog to help prepare your student for their modern portrait session. HERE is a blog post with lots of great tips and a fun video of me if that will help them to be more comfortable.

  • Your student’s photos will first be delivered via a secure online gallery 1-2 weeks after picture day.

    Can’t decide? The entire digital gallery is offered for purchase with every image included, as well as à la carte items including metal prints, canvases, and professional retouching.

    Digital file purchases will be delivered immediately via email after the sale is processed. Print products will be mailed directly to your home from the lab.

  • In the future I’ll be releasing new dates for modern portrait pop-up sessions. GET ON THE WAITLIST and be the first to hear about new dates.

  • I aim to make this photo session as safe as possible for everyone. I am fully vaccinated, and if indicated/requested, I will wear a mask throughout the session, as well as maintain 6ft. of distance.  The session will be conducted in a big white outdoor tent, or my home studio with plenty of ventilation. If any member of the photographers or students household is exposed to Covid-19 or suspected of being ill, the session will be rescheduled without penalty.
