Why is children's photography + modern school portraiture valuable
Modern school portraiture with Hunnicutt photography can occur at your child’s school, or at my special pop-up events that occur in the fall and spring each year.
These are fun events where your child/student is never forced into making un-natural smiles or poses.
Regardless of where your child’s portraits are taken, they will receive a gallery with multiple varied images which capture their true natural personality, to be utilized both in the classroom, and as beautiful wall art for your home.
I’d like to share five reasons why modern school portraits (and displaying those photographs) are valuable.
Self Esteem
There is no better reason than an elevated sense of self to proudly display your children’s modern school portraits in your living space.
Amy Lee from Digital Photography School said “It is amazing to see what a boost of confidence and self-esteem comes to the child whose parents display a lot of photographs of them around the home. Your children understand that you have taken the time to hang, frame, and display their photos, and it makes them understand that you value them, find them to be beautiful, and want to see them each day.”
Sense of Belonging
Children’s modern portraits when proudly displayed in their home, gives them a sense of safety and belonging within that home family unit.
When student’s photos are displayed within the Classroom and School setting, they have an elevated sense of belonging within the group, and like to see their photos alongside their classmates and caregivers. This can be in the form of candid photos taken by staff, as well as student modern portraits with a group or composite image that’s shared in the class. Safety + Security
Children who see photos of themselves displayed in a space, where those images celebrate their accomplishments and highlight their joy and sense of self, feel secure and safe within that environment. What a better way to foster safety and security than displaying your children’s modern portraits as wall art in your home, and in the classroom setting.
Pride In Sharing With Others
When young children see their portraits shared with others as gifts, they will also feel a sense of pride and self worth that you are taking the time to share precious photos of them with others, to then be treasured and displayed in their homes.
Change Over Time
The passage of time that one can observe and feel when looking at photographs from multiple years is a unique experience. When we can trace the years past by observing different hair styles, when we had missing teeth, when we thought we had a cool fake smile…are a uniquely human experience, and one that is valuable for children to experience as they grow.
