Three Reasons To Plan A Summer Photo Session

There are pro’s and con’s for each season of the year, and when to have a photography session. Maybe you select a date because of a milestone birthday or anniversary…or because Grandma is in town.

But, I’d like to share with you three reasons why I recommend booking a summer family photo session!

1. The Beautiful Weather

The weather here in the PNW sure did transition from super rainy to hot over the last week, but I’m so happy to say that summer is finally here. There is less of a concern for needing to reschedule your session due to rain, and we can enjoy the beautiful evening summer light, and gorgeous summer mornings without concern that we’ll need to reschedule due to rain.

2. Less Clothing Decisions Are Needed

With the warm summer weather comes sandals, shorts, sundresses, and t-shirts. It’s fairly easy to dress up a bit in the summer, as skirts and dresses become the norm. No need for layering with scarves, jackets, or wrapping up in a blanket during your session. Everyone will enjoy the weather, with sun kissed skin and rosy cheeks. Also, the summer color pallet works well with many families home decor! Think about incorporating white, blues, reds and pinks plus the gorgeous plentiful green of the Pacific Northwest.

3. The Carefree Summer Schedule

I say that the summer schedule is carefree, only in that the days are longer, we often have more energy, and enjoy being outside until the sun sets. Don’t get me wrong, i know that many families are busy finding childcare solutions, camps, and organizing family travel plans…but the longer days of summer mean that you can have a photo session after dinner, and even after a work day without needing to leave early or change your schedule. Also, many kids sports activities are less frequent in the summer, making planning a session a breeze.
