Location Feature, Hoyt Arboretum | Portland Lifestyle Family Photographer
Hoyt Arboretum is located just two miles from downtown Portland, in the West hills area. It is a large natural oasis just minutes from the urban center of town. The arboretum is located within the larger Washington Park which includes the Oregon Zoo, Rose Garden, and Japanese Garden.
This is a great location for a mid morning photography session as the large trees filter the light significantly and provide lots of shade. Without needing to hike very far into the park there are these cool stone steps and a large covered picnic area as well.
Different portions of the park focus on different species of trees, including a bamboo forest, redwood, spruce, maple and white pine trails. The large evergreen trees provide a lovely backdrop and filter the daytime light quite well.
A visit to Hoyt Arboretum will feel like a mini adventure for your kids, as we all know how much children like to get outside and explore in nature.
Including your kids favorite items can also lead to some cute images that really capture the age and stage of your child today. These images will be looked back on fondly for years to come.
If you’ve followed along with my work for any amount of time, you know that I LOVE toothless grins and capturing smiles during the transitonal teeth years. So, imagine my happiness when I saw this cutie’s smile!!
