10 fun facts about ME, Rebecca, owner of Hunnicutt Photography

I don’t know about you, but I do find talking about myself…or writing about myself in this setting, to be a bit challenging. But, I know that with running my own business and sharing more about who I am is important to helping you learn a bit more about who I am, prior to trusting me to spend time with your family, and with creating your most precious memories.

So, Here are 10 fun (and super random) facts about me!

I LOVE CARBONATED BEVERAGES

Seriously…I’m really obsessed with having carbonated drinks, and absolutely love my Soda Steam for making carbonated water. If I was deserted on an island, I would strongly have to consider this being my one special item. That’s how much I love bubble water!

I HAVE MOVED A LOT

In total in my 40+ years, I’ve lived in 14 different cities, that are in 9 different states, and 3 different countries! The longest I’ve ever lived in one city was actually in Taichung, Taiwan. I’m pushing completing five years in my current home, which will soon be a new record too!

EVERY JOB I’VE HAD EITHER INCLUDED CHILDREN, PHOTOGRAPHY, OR BOTH!

Honestly, when I look back to the earliest ‘jobs’ i had, which were babysitting…they’ve always included working with children. This was true as well when I specialized in pediatric nursing at university. I also had a few photography related jobs in both college (working as an assistant in a local portrait studio) and high school (working at a 1 hr photo printing photos and selling camera equipment)…so when I think about my focus now, photographing families with children and babies, I know that I’ve really joined my two passions in life.

I’M SECRETLY A BIG FAN OF THE SHOW SURVIVOR

I have rarely missed a season of Survivor, only during my early years living overseas when it was hard to watch American tv. I’m not sure exactly what it is about it that I’m drawn to… but I guess the idea of meeting new strangers, living on a beach, has some serious appeal to it…although the lack of food would not be super exciting, as I do like food!

I DID NOT DRINK COFFEE UNTIL AFTER GRAD SCHOOL

Even as i type that sentence, I can’t believe that it’s true. I somehow made it through Undergrad at the University of Michigan, and grad school at the University of Pennsylvania only on diet coke and water! I took a trip to Australia in my late 20’s where I enjoyed the most delicious Vanilla Latte at ‘Gloria Jean’s’ and have been hooked ever since!

I WAS A FIGURE SKATER

My favorite sport that I also practiced was figure skating. I loved it, honestly. I am so thankful that my parents supported this dream and encouraged me to work hard at it. I think I ended up a bit too tall and long and in high school stopped competitively skating. But, I can close my eyes and smell the rink, the wind in my hair, and the cold air on my face. Just writing this makes me want to get out on the ice!

I PLAYED THE FLUTE FOR 10 YEARS

I played the flute and piccolo from third grade through high school including concert, pep, marching bands, and the pit orchestra (I still can’t listen to the music from those high school musicals!) My oldest daughter started to play the flute (she’s actually playing my first flute) during elementary school, and I was surprised by how easy it was for me to pick it up and start playing and reading music. I think she was even more surprised than I was!

MY FIRST CAR WAS A 1985 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF

It was white, a hatch back, with a red and black pinstripe, manual roll up windows, and a clutch. I still have dreams that include this car. Isn’t it funny how vehicles become family members in our memories in a way?

I LOVE TO READ MYSTERY BOOKS WITH FEMALE LEADS

I definitely think that this dates all the way back to my early days of reading ALL of the 80’s and 90’s Nancy Drew Mystery books. But, any time I can read a mystery book (that also includes travel) i’m hooked. Have any recommendations?

I STUDIED FRENCH IN HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE

Somehow I was able to meet all of my language requirements, and could even hold a short conversation with a cabbie in Paris about 5 years ago (to my kids shock!) but I do wish I had maintained more of this language skill. When living overseas in Seoul I studied Korean, and seemed like I could only access French, and when when living in Taiwan and learning Chinese only Korean came out…and I find what I call the ‘file cabinet in your brain’ of languages quite fascinating. Maybe I’ll pickup French again?
